Public Health Web Developer

We're looking for a web ninja to help us unleash the power of the web to advance community health. The position is a retainer of 360 hours, 30hrs/wk over the next 3-4 months. Approximately 10 hrs/wk will be spent on database management and 20 hrs/wk for development. If you're a good fit, we'd like you to be a long-term member of the team. 

The project demands a reliable and communicative PHP developer to:
1) update contact info and other data in our health web apps using applications like phpMyAdmin and Sequel Pro
2) manually perform site update requests from our users
3) extend a basic CMS with new functionality
4) assist with other development as needed

We are using MySQL databases. Some portions of the existing PyroCMS and Zend Framework applications don't currently have a CMS. We want someone to manually perform requests from our users. You must be trustworthy and careful, as you'll be working on live data. A track record of independent, remote development within a small team will be important. 

Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Git, MVC, PHP 5.3+, MySQL, jQuery, AJAX
- Experience with CodeIgniter, PyroCMS, and/or Zend Framework
- Strong database skills with a focus on efficient queries
- Creates and performs automated unit testing
- Works well with web designers

Preferred Attributes:
- Active open-source contributor
- Has an eye for good design

The position demands the ability to independently execute big projects with speed and grace, but also provide insight and overarching leadership to young developers on the team. If you're a good fit, we'd like you to be a long-term member of the team.

User Support Ninja

We´re looking for a User Support Ninja to help us unleash the power of the internet to advance community health. 

This opportunity is a trial contract is a retainer for 60 hours. Anticipated need is 5 hrs/week for 3 months. If you're a good fit, we'd like you to be a long-term member of the team. 

The ideal candidate has a customer service demeanor and conduct email and phone support with non-technical clients with patience and confidence. You must have your own US phone number and email account that requests will forward to. You must understand what it means to write a detailed procedure for a web application. Ideally, you'd be familiar with coding to resolve a set of simple, common issues yourself, referring the rest to the development team. 

Your responsibilities:

- Respond to user inquiries via email and telephone in an efficient and effective manner
- Evaluate, trouble-shoot and follow-up on customer issues
- Escalate issues to the development team
- Keep precise documentation and time tracking

1) Logos, colors, fonts, and other identity elements
2) Page layouts for websites
3) Some basic markup
4) Bootstrap-friendly designs
5) Simple direct mail
6) Other awesome stuff
